OUR MISSION:
We seek to fulfill our vision by focusing on three basic things:
To join Harvest in carrying out our vision and mission, you can read and sign the church covenant here.
-
EVANGELICALWe believe the Bible is God’s Word without error, and that people can enjoy a personal relationship with God through the born again experience that comes through faith in Christ. 2 Tim 3:16; Jn 3:3
-
EXPOSITORY PREACHINGWe preach verse by verse through books of the Bible so people can see what God thinks rather than the flawed self-help ideas of humans. Neh 8:8
-
ANTI-LEGALISM / RITUALISMWe promote the real freedom the Gospel brings and are absolutely opposed to man-made religious rules or rituals that promise victory but only bring bondage. Mk 7:1-13; Dt 4:2; Heb 13:9
-
CELL CHURCH MODELWe believe the Biblical model of relational discipleship through the two wings of the church, Sunday morning service and the Life Groups in homes during the week, is God’s plan for making radical, mature disciples of Jesus. Acts 2:46; 5:12,42; 20:20
-
PRIORITY OF YOUTH & CHILDRENWe are committed to raising up the next generation, passing the baton with excellence. Ps 127:3-5
-
VIBRANT WORSHIPWe want to worship God in Spirit and truth. Our worship is focused on God and includes celebration, intimacy and awe because our God is so fantastic and worthy. Jn 4:23-24; Ps 95; 147:1
-
BALANCE OF WORD & SPIRITJ.I. Packer said, “All Word and no Spirit and we dry up; all Spirit and no Word and we blow up; Word and Spirit and we grow up.” We want to avoid the excesses that occur when God’s people emphasize the Word or the Spirit to the neglect of the other. Jer 23:29; Heb 4:12; Zech 4:6; Acts 1:8
-
SHARING OUR FAITHWe believe every believer should be active in sharing his or her faith with the lost and hurting world. We want a Harvest of people coming into Fellowship with God and His Church. We won’t settle for anything less than revival. Mt 28:19-20; 2 Cor 5:17-21
-
BEING REALOur vision is to be Real People who encounter the Real God in Real Relationship that brings about Real Change. Honesty and authenticity rather than hypocrisy is our goal. Mt 5:3-12; 23:1-39
-
PRACTICING UNITY IN TRUTHSome things are worth dividing over. A church must have the right God, the correct gospel, the proper final authority (the Bible), and the true basic moral code. But God also loves unity in the body of Christ. Concerning minor issues, we agree to disagree agreeably. Ps 133; Jn 17:21; 1 Jn 4:1-6; Gal 1:8-9; 1 Cor 6:9-11
1
So as to avoid the excesses that occur when God’s people emphasize the Word or the Spirit to the neglect of the other, we seek to keep the two in balance (Jer 23:29; Heb 4:12; Zech 4:6; Acts 1:8).
WORD & WORSHIP
2
DOING LIFE TOGTHER
Everyone at Harvest is encouraged to participate not only in the large worship service but also in a small Life Group (Acts 5:42; 20:20). This gives us a consistent, focused opportunity to actively love God and love each other.
3
SHARING THE GOSPEL
We are committed to reaching out to the world around us, serving and sharing the love of God with them (Matt. 28:19-20).
